Celebrations are center to the Filipino lifestyle and food is the key to all Filipino festivities. When we are not partying or celebrating, our daily meals tend to be simpler. Filipino meals often consist of a soup, a meat dish and a veggie, all eaten together with plain white rice. In simplest way, you don’t need dessert.

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post about how the Philippines celebrate the Holy Week. Today Maundy Thursday marks the event before Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross. Most Filipinos refrain from activities such as drinking alcohol, eating meat. Some people visit 14 churches to symbolize the 14 stations of the cross.

When planning to travel here in the Philippines, you have to be prepared for some unique rides in your life. There are many modes of transportation available here in the Philippines. Airplanes, train (although it’s only available in Metro Manila), buses, jeepneys are among the well-known.

For those who want to roam around the city or certain places and be familiar with it’s landmark it’s best to ride jeepney or multicab. The jeepneys have mostly fixed  routes within big cities and routes from ‘town to town’. Taxi is available in larger cities. If you are new to the area beware not to be fooled by some taxi driver. One of the culture that Philippines is known  for are the variety of languages spoken.  There are about 120 different languages. Filipino was chosen as the national language. Aside as chosen as the national language, more than 5o% only of the population of this country speak this language.  The 8 major languages are: Bikol, Cebuano, Hiligaynon (Ilonggo), Ilocano, Kapampangan, Pangasinan, Tagalog, and Waray.
